What is Lead Climbing?

Lead climbing is when the climber is tied to the rope and ascends the wall clipping the rope in as they climb, as opposed to Bottom Rope climbing, this is when the rope is already in place on the wall. We generally say that if you are interested in lead climbing, you should be comfortably climbing Bottom Rope at a 5+.

We will teach you all the skills required to lead safely on bolted routes in an indoor environment. This natural progression will allow you to take full advantage of the centre. The session will also teach you how to safely belay for a lead climber. These sessions have a maximum of two participants per instructor.

This course consists of 2 x 1 hour 45 minute sessions that should be booked on 2 different days, this includes your admission into the centre on the night. The course runs every Wednesday evening 20:00pm until 21:45pm. If these times are not suitable please contact the centre with plenty of notice and we can try to accommodate you.
