Bouldering is an exciting form of Indoor Climbing which does not require a harness or a rope. It is limited to shorter climbs over a crash mat, also known as a bouldering mat.
Bouldering is a style of climbing that encompasses strength, power and dynamics. It focusses on a short sequence of moves unlike roped climbing, where you climb a longer stetch of wall or rock and require more endurance.
Bouldering climbs are referred to as 'Problems' which can be easy through to very, very difficult. 'Problems' are graded to tell you how easy or difficult they are. A 'V0' is the easiest problem, the higher the number, the more difficult the problem.
The Glasgow Climbing Centre run 'Bouldering Inductions' every Monday evening 8.00pm until 8.45pm. An instructor will teach you the bascis of bouldering so that you may become a 'Bouldering Only Member' to the centre, which means you can come along any time we are open and boulder.
The 'Bouldering Induction' includes;
• Introduction to bouldering for approx 45mins
• Use of climbing shoes and chalk during the induction
• Membership to the Glasgow Climbing Centre
