Over 18’s
You can become a member to the centre if you can demonstrate the following;
• You can put on a harness correctly
• You can attach a rope to a harness using a suitable climbing knot
• Use a recognised belay device to secure a falling climber and lower safely from the wall
If you cannot demonstrate the above then why not participate in our 'Adult Introduction Course'?
Or if you are lucky enough to have friends who are members, then they can sign you into the centre as their guest and teach you the basic safety techniques. We generally recommend being signed in at least 5 or 6 times to ensure that you are confident and capable of the requirements to become a member. Also, if they are going to teach you to belay, the only way is by ensuring the member has signed in 2 guests, so that supervision can be provided at all times. Its pretty impossible to supervise a guest whilst they are holding the rope for the member.
