On the upper level of the Glasgow Climbing Centre and bathed in beautiful light filtered through a full height stained glass window is the Balcony Cafe. Here our ambitious chefs create fresh and memorable dishes that traverse the globe – traditional Scottish ingredients such as Stirlingshire pheasant, venison and mussels will be found alongside dishes inspired by the smoky tang of the American South or curries bursting with South East Asian flavours, all at prices that belie the gourmet quality of the food. If you’ve caught our head chef Liam’s regular slot on STV’s Riverside Show then you’ll know that at the Balcony Cafe you can expect palate-expanding “flavour bombs”.
At the Balcony Cafe, we take pride in catering for everyone, and vegetarians will be delighted with our menu. Our chefs utilise the very best vegetarian ingredients such as butternut squash, beetroot, tofu, and goat’s cheese to create an array of ethical delights and vegans will find sandwiches, soups and main meals all created without the use of animal products. Those who seek to avoid gluten can choose to have their sandwiches on Genius gluten-free bread, and anyone with allergies can talk to our creative staff about catering for their specific needs.
The Sweet Tooth
We are happy now to announce that we are working with two fantastic bakers who provide a selection of fresh cakes and pastries. An independent baker based in the West End provides a classic continental touch with tarts, croissants and biscotti, whilst our in house chef Katharine creates inventive takes on British staples such as her blueberry and white chocolate flapjacks. We find that all of these treats pair exceedingly well with our artisan Tapas coffee.
